THE WORK
From the finite to the infinite to the finite to the infinite to the… is a multidisciplinary audio walk performance created by Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir and Marie Topp. The work invites the audience into their shared fascination with alternative temporalities as an inherent experiential field within our lives.
Placed in an urban environment of any kind, the work investigates the physical resonances and reflective processes that occur when a place is energetically transformed by an alien presence. It questions how connections and memories arise within the body by proposing points of departure into the unknown, the fantastical and the imaginative within a site-specific context.
The audience moves through the environment wearing headphones, carried by text and sound. During the walk they encounter a protagonist in three different locations — an unknown, a silhouette, an alien object in the environment. This unknown serves as a container of external realities that are not there, inducing a foreign atmosphere that brings questions into the environment and unveils hidden internal and external unconscious realities. A dystopian time traveller who points to past, present and future through her presence.
A six-minute film by Milja Rossi forms the fourth and final chapter. At the end of the performance the audience is given a QR code on location and drawn into digital space through their phones, tracing the journey of the protagonist in another space and time.
Text, site, dance, music and film function as interconnected threads that can be stretched and laid out in different ways to resonate with each location the work is invited into.

THE ARTIST
Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir is an Icelandic choreographer, performer and researcher. She lived and worked in Berlin for most of her career and recently relocated to Brussels. Her work centres on somatic and artistic research, specialising in the “politics of intimacy” — exploring how socio-political and economic frameworks manifest physically within the body. She developed the FULL DROP method, a meditative de-conditioning practice using fascia therapy and tissue release to unlock alternate perceptual states, and has over 25 years of experience touring internationally. Marie Topp is a Copenhagen-based choreographer, performer and Artistic Director of Visible Effects, whose work deals with human isolation, time and emotional anxiety.
TOURING INFORMATION
Format: Site-specific multidisciplinary sound walk performance for a maximum of 30 audience members.
Location: The work can be installed in many kinds of urban environment — city centre, residential areas, shopping malls, museums, galleries, theatres or parks. The inviting organisation may suggest a preferred location. At least two days on location are needed to map out the site and install the work.
Touring team: Two people travel with the work. The company brings its own headphones and the device used to trigger text live during the performance.
From the venue: One member of staff on location during the performance, to collect clothes and food that the performer leaves behind as she moves through the environment with the audience.
