THE WORK
Heyrðu mig (Hear Me Out) opens the door to a world where movement, sign language, and sound merge with visual experience and physical perception. It is a journey into the world of Diljá Sveinsdóttir, who was born with limited hearing and soon became deaf, yet established herself as a remarkable professional dancer and artist.
From childhood, her perception and means of expression were shaped by her circumstances, where every movement and every moment became a way of interpreting the world. She learned that using hearing aids could give her access to sound, but within herself she developed a sense of rhythm and musicality that lives in the body itself. Sign language, movement, and visual forms of communication became her natural mode of expression, and this personal and unique perspective is reflected in Heyrðu mig.

THE ARTIST
Sveinbjörg Þórhallsdóttir is an Icelandic choreographer whose work explores the relationship between inner states and physical expression. She holds a dance degree from New York and an MA in Choreography from Fontys University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Her practice is rooted in a search for authenticity in movement—where time, sensation, and presence converge. Through meditation and deep attunement to the body's internal impulses, she creates spaces where movement can emerge intuitively, shaped by the dancer's lived experience.
TOURING INFORMATION
