International flights arrive at Keflavík International Airport, around 50 km from Reykjavík. The journey into the city takes 45–60 minutes.
Airport busThe simplest option. Flybus by Reykjavík Excursions waits outside the terminal and leaves once the coach fills, so there is no fixed timetable to catch and late arrivals are covered. Buses run to the BSÍ terminal, with onward transfer to most hotels. Book in advance or on arrival. Book the Flybus →Public busStrætó route 55 runs between the airport and Reykjavík. Cheaper again, but infrequent, slower and with limited luggage space. Check the timetable before you rely on it. Route 55 timetable →Avoid taking a taxi from the airport unless you have no alternative. The fare to central Reykjavík is many times the cost of the bus.
Venues 1–4 are in the city centre and within a few minutes' walk of one another. Austurbæjarbíó and Dansverkstæðið are also walkable, at around 20–25 minutes on foot.
Borgarleikhúsið and Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar are best reached by bus or taxi. Reykjavík's public bus system, Strætó, connects the city centre with all parts of the capital area. Taxis within the city are reasonably priced and can be booked through Hreyfill or BSR.
Allow extra time between venues, particularly in November, when weather conditions can change quickly.
For most visitors we recommend staying in or close to central Reykjavík, where most accommodation, restaurants and cafés are concentrated. Staying within walking distance of the central venues means you can go back between events rather than relying on taxis.
Book early. Reykjavík is busy in November and prices rise as the dates approach.
