ÞOKA is a Icelandic/Faroese theater production for children that blurs the boundaries between science and mythology. The play revolves around the natural phenomenon of fog, which is, after all, not much more than a swarm of tiny water droplets; a cloud resting on the ground. Two fog scientists hunt for an extremely rare type of fog. Their mission is full of surprises, humour and beauty. Originally performed in Faroese and Icelandic, the play incorporates local languages when touring.
Bio
The theater company Selur consists of an experienced group of Icelandic and Faroese artists. The company aims to contribute to a richer performing arts culture for children, to encourage them to contemplate how we experience and view our surroundings, and inspire joyful curiosity. The company’s first theatre performance, ÞOKA (e. Fog), premiered at the Reykjavík City Theatre in 2022. Selur are passionate about playing with language and promoting the languages of small populations.
