Little Monster and Big Monster
The play about The Little Monster and the Big Monster is based on award winning children's books, that first premiered in 2011 at The National Theatre of Iceland. The stories of the monsters are about friendship and communication and how hard it can be to respect each other's differences and boundaries. Like us humans, the monsters are different, which can cause misunderstandings and arguments but gradually as they learn to appreciate each other's qualities their friendship grows stronger.
Bio
The Akureyri Theater Company (ATC) is the only professional theatre outside of the Reykjavík area which is funded by the local and official government. The history of the theatre company goes back for over a century and its projects have included Icelandic and foreign plays and children's plays and musicals. Guests of the ATC come from all over the country. In addition to the production of plays, the ATC has run a theatre school since 2009 which is intended for young people aged 7-16.
