SYSTEMET - a satirical chamber opera about the Scandinavian welfare system. The system is the cornerstone of the social democratic social contract, but does it function as it should? Users receive help, but not the help they need. They become trapped in the waiting room, while the Case Worker futilely tries his utmost to help the users with decoding the cryptic and conflicting commands from the System.Welcome to the waiting room. Bio
Operakollektivet is an independent Nordic opera company run by the artists themselves. We write texts and compose contemporary operas about socially relevant themes with a satirical edge. Our aim is to develop opera that is accessible, relevant and engaging. Operakollektivet consists of the Norwegian opera singer and producer, Patrick Egersborg, the Norwegian librettist, playwright and director, Oda Fiskum and the Icelandic composer and conductor, Gísli J. Grétarsson.
