Iceland Moves — we’re inviting the world over

Dance artists from Iceland have long made their mark around the world. This November, we’re inviting the world over.

On 11–15 November, Iceland Moves takes place as part of Reykjavík Dance Festival. We welcome international festival directors, artistic directors and producers to see the work, meet the artists and get to know the dance scene in Iceland.

The programme features full-length performances, excerpts from works in development and presentations of upcoming projects. It brings together dancers and choreographers working in Iceland and Icelandic choreographers who have established careers abroad.

We want to help these works travel further and make room for conversations that can grow into collaborations. That means bringing people together, experiencing each other’s work and taking time to talk. Iceland Moves gives visiting professionals the opportunity to discover a range of works in one place, while helping choreographers build connections that could lead to touring opportunities and future collaborations.

Iceland Moves is a collaboration between Performing Arts Centre Iceland, Reykjavík Dance Festival, Iceland Dance Company and Dansverkstæðið, in partnership with Business Iceland. Together, we are working to raise the international profile of dance from Iceland and create new opportunities for dance artists.

The Reykjavík Dance Festival programme is now online. Over the coming weeks, we will introduce the choreographers and works featured in Iceland Moves through Performing Arts Centre Iceland’s channels.
