More Flexible Travel Grant System: Next Deadline January 30th

The Performing Arts Centre Iceland reminds applicants of the upcoming travel grant deadline on January 30th at 16:00.

The grants are intended for independent professional performing artists for performance tours, both domestically and internationally. The aim of the grants is to increase the visibility of Icelandic performing arts, reach new audiences, and strengthen international networks.

New Procedures: Rolling Deadlines and Increased Flexibility

As of last December, new rules have been implemented to make the fund more accessible and the process more predictable:

  • Always Open: The application portal remains open year-round. As soon as one period ends, the next opens immediately.
  • Three Cycles: The professional council reviews applications three times a year. The deadlines are the last working day of January, May, and September.
  • Flexibility: Applicants can now apply for grants for tours taking place during the current application period or later. This ensures that projects already underway or upcoming at the time of the deadline are eligible.

Please note: While the new system reduces uncertainty, funding is never guaranteed. The budget is finite, and allocations are based on a competitive professional review, taking into account the volume of applications and available funds in each cycle.

Required Documentation:To be considered, applications must include confirmation from the venue/festival and a clear travel budget.
