The Stage — New series on RÚV about performing arts in Iceland

The Performing Arts Centre Iceland proudly presents a new TV series, The Stage (Sviðið), which premieres on RÚV on Wednesday, January 8th, at 8:05 PM. The series will air over the next four Wednesdays, offering an engaging exploration of Icelandic performing arts.

The series was produced in collaboration with 101 Productions, supported by a grant from the Children’s Cultural Fund and RÚV. The goal of the series is to spark interest in performing arts among young audiences, highlighting the diverse possibilities of this creative field in an accessible and inspiring way.

Episodes:

Episode 1 (January 8): Directing and acting, featuring interviews with Una Þorleifsdóttir, Anna Kolfinna Nikulásdóttir, and Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir.

Episode 2 (January 15): Opera, with an interview with young opera singers from the Óður ensemble, along with Viktoría Blöndal discussing devised theater and Sigurður Ámundarson on unconventional stage productions.

Episode 3 (January 22): Contemporary dance and circus arts, featuring Ásrún Magnúsdóttir, Andrean Sigursveinsson, and Eyrún Ævarsdóttir.

Episode 4 (January 29): Playwriting with Tyrfingur Tyrfingsson and performing arts studies with Hólmfríður Hafliðadóttir and Egill Gauti Sigurjónsson.

After airing on RÚV, the episodes will be available on the Performing Arts Iceland website and on Listveitan, the streaming platform for Art for All.

Unfortunately, the series is available only in Icelandic for now.
