Allocation of travel grants for summer 2024

Performing Arts Centre Iceland has awarded travel grants according to the proposals PACI advisory board.The open call for travel grants was announced in early May, and a total of five applications were received this time. Grants were awarded to four exciting projects. The aim of these grants is to generate interest and demand abroad for performing arts works from Iceland.

The following projects received travel grants:

Olöf Ingolfsdottir dancer and choreographer, received 200,000 ISK to present the work “Something About Clouds” at Festival Quartier Danses in Montreal, which will take place September 5 - 15, 2024. Ólöf was nominated for two Gríma Awards in 2024, both as choreographer and dancer of the year for the work “Seven Poems from an Unwritten Book of Poetry”.

Rosa Omarsdóttir received 525,000 ISK to present the work “MOLTA” in Dansehallerne in Copenhagen, 26 - 28 September 2024. Molta received two awards at the Gríman Theatre Awards. Rósa was named choreographer of the year and Guðný Hrund Sigurðardóttir, Hákon Pálson and Rósa Ómarsdóttir received the award for set design of the year. Molta and Rómeó <3 July by the Iceland Dance Company will be the two performances from Iceland that will be on the program in the new premises of Danshallerne in Copenhagen this autumn.

Ð festival received 450,000 ISK to support the exhibition of six individual projects of graduates from Department of Dance, Iceland University of the Arts on Söltumatu Tantsu Lava in Estonia, Dans i Blekinge in Sweden and Dance Theatre MD in Finland, 4 - 13 October 2024. The grant will provide newly graduated dancers with an invaluable opportunity to promote their work internationally.

Bernd GardenerI got 100,000 dollars to show.”Metamorphosis“ on Pesta Boneka Indonesian Puppet Festival, 21-27 October 2024. Bernd is one of the country's leading puppet artists and has presented his work around the world over the past decades. Metamorphosis was premiered in 2006.
